Over 20,000 applications from 90 countries were submitted for the championship, with only the top 200 developers, analysts, and programmers advancing to the final stage. They competed in six areas: analytics, frontend and backend development, mobile development, machine learning, and sports programming. Participants were given five hours to solve the assigned tasks.
Prize places were secured by representatives from Japan, the USA, Belarus, Russia, the UK, and Portugal. Notably, one of the finalists was programmer Akobirjon Abdumuniev from Uzbekistan, who performed successfully in the "Backend Development" category. He remarked that participating in the tournament was a true challenge for him:
"While tackling the most complex problems, I realized that human intelligence remains irreplaceable. The key is to not fear difficulties and to continuously improve."
According to Akobirjon, one of the hardest tasks he faced in the semifinals involved processing data from over 21,000 servers and developing an optimal information search algorithm.
The Yandex Cup final was not limited to competitions alone. Guests and participants also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Uzbekistan's cultural heritage. In particular, they learned about the works of Al-Khwarizmi, whose mathematical discoveries formed the basis of modern programming algorithms. They were also invited to experience the role of a 9th-century mathematician and solve problems using technologies from that era.
The event was enhanced by humor and interactivity, thanks to the exhibition "Museum of IT Culture." Here, attendees could see humorous exhibits about the lives of developers and learn about the history of Yandex Cup and IT culture.
For Uzbekistan, Yandex Cup 2024 marked an important step in strengthening its status in the technology world. The event attracted the attention of leading IT specialists and highlighted the country's readiness to host international events of such scale.
"We aim to make Uzbekistan a regional IT hub and are ready to support initiatives that will help develop business and attract talent," said Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov in his welcoming speech to the participants.
Thus, for the participants, the championship became not only a professional challenge but also an opportunity to explore the culture and hospitality of Uzbekistan. For our country, this represents a new phase in advancing on the global technology stage, opening up even more opportunities for young talents.
