In October 2024, the Global Innovation Conference Chery 2024 (CGIC) was inaugurated in the Chinese city of Wuhu under the slogan "Technologies for the Future." At the event, Chery showcased its advanced achievements across various technological fields and outlined strategic directions for the development of the automotive industry. Chery announced its ambition to take a leading position in intelligent technologies, explore new technological horizons, and achieve breakthrough results. The latest solutions for intelligent driving aimed at enhancing user experience were presented, alongside the new Qpower battery technology, which strengthens the company's ecosystem in the field of new energy sources.
The CGIC 2024 conference, unlike the previous Chery Tech Day format, was expanded from a one-day event to an entire week of technological presentations and discussions. Over a thousand guests participated, including representatives from government agencies, academic and professional communities, as well as international partners, including ADM Global, the official distributor of the Chery brand in Uzbekistan.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Yin Tongyue, Chairman of the Chery Group Board, and other top executives of the company. In his speech, the chairman stated: "Innovation is the foundation and necessity for Chery. We strengthen our brand and ensure its sustainable development through innovations that make our products and services competitive." Yin emphasized that, given the growing importance of intelligent technologies, the company will continue to explore new technological horizons, striving for intelligent breakthroughs to maintain its leadership position in the industry.
Chairman Yin also highlighted that Chery not only focuses on technological excellence but is also one of the pioneers of globalization among Chinese companies. On the first day of the conference, Chery's global strategy was presented, aimed at producing high-quality, reliable, and durable vehicles for the global market. The company is enhancing its development processes by adapting products to the needs of each market and conducting local testing to ensure vehicle reliability in various operating conditions.
Chery's global strategy is built on principles of market orientation and customer interests, emphasizing not only technological developments but also the localization of operations and services. By 2025, Chery plans to launch models tailored to the demands of various countries and cultures. These vehicles will meet high-quality standards and consider local features, allowing them to satisfy diverse customer needs.
The company aims for leadership in the global market, supporting the revival of Chinese automotive brands and fostering a wave of innovation in the industry. With a solid technological foundation, Chery achieved significant successes in 2024, demonstrating both quantitative and qualitative growth. From January to September, Chery Group's sales exceeded 1.75 million vehicles, making it the only company in the industry to achieve growth in both the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment and the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) segment, in both domestic and international markets. Chery set records in all four areas of its business, securing its place in the Fortune Global 500 rankings.
After 27 years of continuous innovation, Chery has built a strong technological foundation. The company's Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Gao Xinhua, reported that significant progress has been made in five key areas over the past two years: architecture, powertrains, intelligent interiors, intelligent driving, and ecosystems. These achievements have led to over ten breakthrough results, enabling the creation of a high-quality technological chain that elevates the Chinese automotive industry to a global level.
The CGIC conference included several thematic zones: showcasing finished vehicles, testing components, and presenting the latest technologies. More than 100 exhibits across five technological areas illustrated the company's achievements and potential. Chery, which previously declared the principle of "No Compromises on New Energy," presented at CGIC 2024 a new line of Qpower batteries, including three key directions: lithium iron phosphate batteries, titanate batteries, and large cylindrical batteries. These batteries are characterized by rapid charging, long lifespan, safety, and extended range. CGIC 2024 provided a comprehensive showcase of Chery's technological innovations and underscored the global significance of Chinese automotive brands.
