The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that the IV Asian Youth Games in 2025 will be held in Bahrain. Today, the reason for Uzbekistan's withdrawal from hosting the Asian Games has also become clear.
On Monday, December 2, during an online meeting of the executive committee, it was revealed that the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan had sent a letter to the Olympic Committee of Asia. The letter stated that the tournament scheduled for September 2025 could not be held because the construction of the Olympic village in Tashkent would not be completed on time.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Olympic Committee announced its readiness to host this event in accordance with the plans for sports facilities, accommodation, and medical services. The committee's Secretary General, Faris Al Kuheji, noted that the Asian Youth Games would receive full support from the leadership, particularly from the president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
During the meeting, it was also reported that Bahrain successfully hosted the Gymnasiade 2024 in October, organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), which attracted over 5,000 participants, including 4,000 athletes.
The Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia unanimously approved the hosting of the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain and thanked the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan for all its efforts, emphasizing that Uzbekistan will be able to host major events in the future.
