Currently, Tirana (Albania) is hosting the latest session of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA). During this event, discussions are focused on determining the host country for the Islamic Solidarity Games next year, as well as the organization's future plans. Representing the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the Director of the International Relations Department, Kamolidin Ergashov, is participating in the session.
During the event, it was officially confirmed that the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, will host the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2025. The competitions are scheduled to take place from November 7 to 21. The program includes 13 Olympic sports, 4 non-Olympic sports, 3 Paralympic sports, and 1 national sport. According to the regulations, an Executive Committee meeting and a General Assembly of the international organization will be held today.
As a reminder, the last Islamic Solidarity Games took place in 2022 in Konya, Turkey. In those competitions, the delegations from Uzbekistan managed to secure 51 gold, 42 silver, and 65 bronze medals, earning second place in the overall standings among 56 participating countries, just behind Turkey.
