The event was attended by representatives from the media, staff from information and library centers, and libraries of the Presidential School and specialized schools in the Navoi region.
Before the presentation for Navoi journalists and social media activists, a seminar was held on the topic "Responsibility for Adhering to Professional Ethics in the Media."
As is known, the Code, which was approved at the IV Conference of the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan in July 2019, outlines the moral and ethical principles that media workers should follow while fulfilling their professional duties. This was mentioned by the Acting Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, Kholmurad Salimov, during his speech at the event.
Ten titles of books for children and adolescents, representing the best examples of Uzbek and world literature, were then presented. According to K. Salimov, as part of the project by the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan aimed at "Enhancing Reading Culture for the Development of Spiritual and Intellectual Potential, Thinking, and Worldview of the Population, Especially the Younger Generation, and Fostering a Harmoniously Developed Personality," which is funded by the Public Fund for Support of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations and Other Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, cycles of books titled "Kitobhon Bolalar" and "Dunyo Daholari" have been prepared and published for children and adolescents. These include the best examples of Uzbek and world literature—poems, stories, and fairy tales by local writers and poets, as well as books about the lives and activities of globally renowned figures such as Steve Jobs, Muhammad Ali, Leonardo da Vinci, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Albert Einstein. The books were published by GUP "O‘zbekiston Nashriyoti" and LLC "ASAXIY BOOKS."
During the event, information was shared about the significance of the project in further developing reading culture among the population and the importance of books in educating the younger generation.
Sets of ten book titles were handed over to the Information and Library Center of the Navoi region named after Abdulla Qodiriy, the regional children's library, as well as to the book collections of the Presidential School and specialized schools in the Navoi region.
As part of the event, a group of representatives from regional media, who were accepted as members of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, were presented with certificates and badges.
