The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution approving the technical regulation on the safety of equipment designed for use in explosive atmospheres.

Accordingly, a technical regulation has been established, outlining requirements for equipment used in explosive environments, as well as guidelines for labeling, identification, conformity assessment, and its implementation scheme.

This regulation sets forth uniform mandatory requirements that apply and must be complied with in Uzbekistan regarding explosive atmospheres, aiming to protect human life and health, property, the environment, and to prevent misleading actions towards consumers. The requirements are applicable to a list of equipment used in explosive environments, which must undergo mandatory assessment for compliance.

The technical regulation does not apply to:

  • technical devices not intended for use in explosive atmospheres, containing explosive substances and unstable chemical compounds (explosives, gunpowder, and others);
  • gas-utilizing equipment for domestic and non-industrial purposes, used in conditions where an explosive atmosphere is created due to unforeseen leakage of combustible gas;
  • equipment transiting through the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • medical devices;
  • personal protective equipment;
  • equipment installed on public transport (air, road, rail, or water);
  • equipment for nuclear research.

The rules for the operation of equipment used in explosive environments will be established in accordance with the procedures defined by the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers.
