A representative from Uzbekistan has been named among the BBC's "100 Women" list.
The BBC has published a list of 100 inspiring and influential women in the world for 2024. Among them is entrepreneur Dilorum Yuldasheva from Uzbekistan.
This year's theme is "resilience" (the ability to quickly recover physical and mental strength). The "100 Women" project recognizes the impact this year has had on women around the globe, honoring those who, through their resilience, are creating new lives and changing the future despite the changes in the world around them.
This year’s list includes Dilorum Yuldasheva from the Denau district of the Surkhandarya region.
Two years ago, she lost both legs due to an accident while harvesting. However, despite the tragedy, she did not fall into despair.
“She wanted to learn something new and also help young Uzbek women earn a living, so she decided to start her own sewing business. After learning the basics of entrepreneurship and resource management, she trained over 40 women in sewing,” - the BBC release states.
