How are the rulings of foreign courts enforced in Uzbekistan?

The President has signed Law No. ZRU-1009 dated December 4, 2024, "On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan."
The Criminal Procedure Code is supplemented by Chapter 66, which regulates the procedure for:
- recognition and enforcement of a court decision from a foreign state;
- the acceptance and transfer to a foreign state of a person:
- convicted and serving a prison sentence, for further serving of the sentence;
- subject to a compulsory medical measure, for further undergoing compulsory treatment.
In accordance with the procedures established by the CPC and in accordance with international treaties, a court decision from a foreign state may be recognized and enforced in Uzbekistan in cases of:
- the acceptance of a citizen of Uzbekistan, convicted and serving a prison sentence in a foreign country, for further serving of the sentence in Uzbekistan;
- the acceptance of a citizen of Uzbekistan who committed a socially dangerous act in a foreign country while being insane or who developed a mental disorder after the act, for whom there is a court decision from a foreign state applying a compulsory medical measure, for undergoing compulsory treatment in Uzbekistan;
- the extradition by a foreign state to Uzbekistan of a person who has been convicted by a foreign court and has not served their sentence;
- the refusal to extradite a citizen of Uzbekistan, convicted by a foreign court;
- in other cases provided for by international treaties.
