The implementation of the state program "From Poverty to Well-Being" will involve elders. The corresponding decree was signed by the president on November 25.
It is planned to assign three active elders, living in the same neighborhood, to every five low-income families. The selection of elders will be carried out by the "Nurony" fund and the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Ministry of Employment.
One of the main tasks of the elders will be to assist the families under their care in increasing their incomes. In particular, they will provide support in obtaining mobile trading points (food trucks) for rent, equipment for small-scale production, and other machinery.
The elders will also help with the efficient use of household plots belonging to the families for whom they are responsible. This includes organizing the planting of high-yield crops, training in crop care, and marketing agricultural products.
The elders will be responsible for providing children from low-income families with school supplies, engaging them in clubs, and connecting them with artisans and masters. Additionally, they will monitor the families' fulfillment of obligations under the social contract.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the "From Poverty to Well-Being" program in September. As part of this initiative, it is planned to lift 500,000 people out of poverty by the end of this year and 1 million people by 2025.
The program includes work in seven areas, including ensuring employment, obtaining education and vocational training, and access to medical and social services. Support measures for low-income families will be provided under the social contract.
Family members included in the registry will receive financial assistance for up to six months after employment, starting self-employment, or launching their own business. They will be granted tax benefits, as well as preferential loans for food trucks and equipment for their enterprises.
