From May to December, the number of electric vehicle charging stations in Uzbekistan nearly doubled, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Finance.

Since the beginning of the year, around 500 new charging stations have opened, with 60% located in Tashkent. The number of users has already reached 90,000.

The five regions with the highest number of stations include Tashkent (120 stations), Namangan, Samarkand, and Fergana regions (each with 61). Tashkent continues to lead in the total number of charging stations throughout the year, accounting for more than half of the total in the country.

In Karakalpakstan, the number of electric charging stations has been minimal throughout the months, totaling only 9 stations.

In May, the procedure for installing and connecting electric vehicle charging stations to the power grid was simplified. The time for legal entities to obtain permits for charging stations will not exceed one month.

In June, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a special night tariff for charging electric transport.

It is planned to allow the installation of charging stations with a capacity of up to 22 kW at apartment buildings, and up to 7 kW at private homes.

In July, the first deputy head of the "Regional Electric Networks," Alvar Gaiybullaev, spoke about plans to introduce separate energy consumption accounting for charging stations. Charging stations will receive a special account, and the tariff may be set at 900 sums per 1 kW/h.

By the end of 2025, it is planned to install 32,000 charging stations. At public parking lots, at least one spot will need to be equipped with an electric vehicle charging station.
