Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting focused on identifying additional opportunities, increasing investment influx, and creating jobs in the Bukhara region, as reported by the president's press service.
The critical meeting highlighted the discrepancy between the region's economic indicators and its potential. Efforts to attract investments, reduce poverty, and combat unemployment were deemed unsatisfactory.
As a result, the khokims, their deputies, and sector leaders will switch to an emergency working mode for a period of six months. The entire focus will be directed towards improving these three areas: investments, poverty, and unemployment.
Special attention will be given to the implementation of 70 driving projects based on the experience of Saykhunabad, Uych, Zarbdar, and Gijduvan. These projects will provide income for 150,000 people and lift 40,000 out of poverty.
Each district in the Bukhara region is proposed to specialize in a specific industry: Peshku and Shafirkan for the production of building materials and textiles, Kagan, Alat, and Jondor districts for the food industry, while Gijduvan and Romitan will focus on the chemical sector. This will enable the implementation of projects amounting to $150 million and the creation of 411 small enterprises and 12,000 jobs.
In Vabkent, Karakul, Jondor, and Alat, plans are in place to construct four textile factories with a total cost of $320 million. This will double the output of finished knitwear and textile products and create 5,000 jobs.

In 2025, the arrival of 2.2 million foreign tourists is anticipated, and the volume of tourist services exports is expected to reach $600 million. This will be facilitated by the opening of 69 new hotels and 2,000 crafts shops and stores.
Additionally, there are plans to develop an extra 20,000 hectares of land, which will ensure the cultivation of 100,000 tons of agricultural products and provide jobs for 2,000 people. Trees and food crops will be planted on the vacant lands of household plots, along canals, and at the edges of fields.
In the Bukhara region, the area of pastures exceeds 2 million hectares. As part of the decisions made at a recent meeting on the development of fruit and vegetable growing, it is planned to cultivate pistachios on unused pastures.
The khokim of the Bukhara region presented plans for utilizing these opportunities. In the coming year, it is anticipated that 106 projects will be implemented with $2 billion in foreign investments, creating 105,000 permanent jobs and increasing exports by $350 million.
The head of state pointed out the insufficiency of these plans, instructed to intensify efforts and improve results, as well as to revise proposals and submit a draft of the relevant resolution.
Earlier, Spot reported that the president instructed to develop the production of components and spare parts for electric vehicles.
