As of the end of November, Uzbekistan has significantly increased its gas imports. This is reflected in the data from the Statistics Agency, which was analyzed by Spot.
From January to November, the import of blue fuel from Turkmenistan and Russia rose 2.8 times to $1.55 billion. Monthly natural gas supplies amounted to $186.8 million. As a result of last year, Uzbekistan transitioned from being a gas exporter to an importer for the first time in its history of independence.
Last month, the export of gas to China slightly slowed down compared to October, decreasing from $60.9 million to $53 million. Since the beginning of the year, supplies of blue fuel to the Celestial Empire reached $593.4 million (an increase of 16.5% year-on-year).
However, the data from the Statistics Agency slightly differs from the figures provided by the General Administration of Customs of China, which states that Uzbekistan exported gas worth $667.3 million since the start of the year, exceeding last year's figure by 27.1%.
Additionally, Chinese customs reports a slight decrease in the monthly volume of natural gas supplies from Uzbekistan, dropping from October's $88.93 million to $79.4 million in November. Nevertheless, this is still 45.5% higher than the corresponding figure for 2023.
Turkmenistan continues to lead in gas exports to China, having supplied blue fuel worth $8.82 billion since the beginning of the year. Russia follows in second place, increasing its gas exports by a quarter to $7.35 billion. Kazakhstan ($1.28 billion) and Myanmar ($1.27 billion) are next in line.
Previously, Spot reported that "Uzbekneftegaz" would attract $2 billion to finance gas extraction projects.
