Uzbekistan ranked 68th out of 95 in the global passport strength ranking, Passport Index, compiled by the Canadian consulting firm Arton Capital.
In creating the index, the company evaluated passports based on how many countries their holders can visit either visa-free or by obtaining a visa upon arrival in a foreign country.
Citizens of Uzbekistan can visit 32 countries without a visa, in 46 countries a visa can be obtained upon arrival, and for three countries, an electronic entry permit is required. To visit 120 countries, an entry visa must be obtained through the standard procedure.
Thus, over the past year, the Uzbek passport has risen two positions in the global ranking, with the overall score increasing from 73 to 78 countries. Specifically, in 2024, visa-free travel has been established with the UAE, Thailand, Oman, and Pakistan, and plans are underway for China.
The holders of the strongest passport in the world are citizens of the UAE. They enjoy visa-free travel in 133 countries, while a visa can be obtained upon arrival in another 47 countries. At the bottom of the list is Syria, where its citizens have visa-free access to 9 countries, with a visa available upon arrival in 31 countries.
Among the CIS countries, Ukraine leads with 21st place, allowing access to 150 countries: 98 visa-free and 52 with a visa on arrival. The weakest passport in the community belongs to Turkmenistan (76th place; index - 68).
