Several personnel changes have occurred in the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as reported on the agency's website.
Umid Abidkhojaev has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance. Previously, he served as the Director of the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Research (IMRI).
Umid Kutpitdinovich Abidkhojaev (born in 1987) received his higher education at the Tashkent Islamic Institute (2009) and earned his master's degree (2014) and doctorate (2017) from Keio University in Japan, specializing in economics. Over the years, he has worked in the State Property Committee, the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo, and the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
Since 2017, Abidkhojaev has been a project consultant for ADB on infrastructure investments. In October 2019, he took the position of Deputy Director at the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
Another Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance appointed is Ilkhom Umrzakov. He will also continue to lead the Department for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) development, which he has headed since May of this year.
Umrzakov graduated from the University of Tokyo, worked at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, and headed the Department of Macroeconomic Policy, Analysis, and Forecasting at the Ministry of Economy. From 2020 to 2021, he led the Higher School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
In 2021, Umrzakov became an advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank. Since 2022, he has also held a similar position at the International Monetary Fund.
Muradbek Atadjanov, appointed as the Chairman of the Treasury Service Committee of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in August 2023, has become the Director of the Off-Budget Pension Fund. He will be succeeded in his previous position by Abdulaziz Khaidarov.
Atadjanov previously served as the First Deputy Head of the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance. Khaidarov, in turn, headed the Department for Financial Support of the Judicial System, Prosecutor's Office, and State Agencies, led the Pension Fund in June 2020, and became the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 2023.
Jasur Karshibaev is being relieved of his duties as Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance. He will become an advisor to the Minister.
