The Strategic Reforms Agency held a roundtable discussion on the development of the nighttime economy, as reported by the agency's press service.
Representatives from various ministries and agencies, as well as the Tashkent Hokimiya and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended the meeting. Participants proposed key recommendations for creating conditions conducive to the nightlife entertainment sector.
For instance, a representative from the Ministry of Economy and Finance emphasized the importance of establishing unified requirements and standards for businesses operating at night. According to him, this will help streamline operations and attract more participants to this segment.
The Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry suggested designating a specialized area for the development of the nighttime economy. This is expected to simplify the creation of infrastructure, the implementation of digital services and payment systems, as well as enhance visitor safety monitoring and traffic management.
A representative from the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed the establishment of a separate body or structural unit to oversee nighttime economy issues. Centralized coordination will enable a swift response to challenges, particularly those related to maintaining public order.
All representatives of government bodies were tasked with developing specific proposals for the advancement of the nighttime economy. This includes legal regulation, ensuring safety, developing transportation infrastructure, and attracting investments.
Based on the gathered recommendations, a Concept for the Development of the Nighttime Economy is planned to be developed. The document will be approved by a presidential decree.
In November, the ACR published proposals for the development of the nighttime economy in Uzbekistan. Among other things, it is proposed to allow entertainment establishments to operate 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays, lift restrictions on operating hours, and create spaces for nighttime activities in tourist-friendly locations.
